Testimonials

Peter has taken my mother, who has dementia, out for forest walks on many occasions and this has given her a great deal of enjoyment. It has been obvious to me how beneficial these walks are when I have seen Mum return with a smile on her face and colour in her cheeks! I have also found that she is calmer and more restful as a result. Both Peter and Alison are genuinely caring people who love the work they do and I have no hesitation in recommending this service.

Alison and Peter are true professionals at caring in the community. They have looked after, and cared for, members of my family and I can say that nothing is too much for them. I would highly recommend them with no hesitation at all.

Peter and Alison take my husband out walking every week. At first I was worried how he would take to it, but I soon discoverd there was no reason to have worried. When he comes back he is happy and relaxed and so am I, as he has dementia and we both need a break and Alison and Peter provide us both with that break from each other. I think it is a great idea, one to one companionship. Would recommend them to anyone. What a caring couple and I wish them both well with what they are doing.
Thank you both from Val and Bill

I have known Alison for three years and the care she has given my husband James, who has Alzheimer’s and heart failure, is second to none. She has all sorts of ideas for walks and adapts them to how James is feeling. They share their love of the countryside. Peter (Alison’s husband) who I know less well, I find delightful and he too gives me great reassurance. My husband is well looked after and they both come back smiling. I have every confidence that both Alison and Peter, with their wide experience, would be well equipped to deal with any emergency – we are really fortunate to have them.

On a referral from ‘Signpost’ we found out about ‘Outdoor Companionship’. Peter has vascular memory loss and now can regain his love for the countryside/outdoors, whilst having one to one care from Peter or Alison. Their outings are adapted to how mobile Peter is feeling on the day and adds purpose as well as fitness to his care plan. It is reassuring knowing he’s in safe hands, plus both are friendly and have an understanding of Alzheimer’s care.

My name is Karen and I am the carer for an elderly gentleman. I went away on holiday for 12 days in August and I needed to find somebody to care for this gentleman while I was away. The gentleman I care for can be quite hesitant to have others care for him. However, on first meeting Alison and Peter, he visibly relaxed and it was clear he felt very comfortable with them. His words to describe them when I returned from my holiday were that they were “very good” “wonderful” and “excellent.”
For my part I would like to say that Alison and Peter made the whole process of engaging them a pleasure. They are extremely professional yet also have a remarkably personal touch. They really tune into people’s needs very quickly. My words for them would be ‘amazing, completely trustworthy, flexible, empathetic, wise, genuinely caring’… I could go on.
It was a joy to meet Alison & Peter and I absolutely would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. I felt completely confident while I was away that the person I care for was in extremely safe hands. This enabled me to really enjoy my holiday. Aswell as being lovely people, Alison and Peter are brilliant at what they do. Thank you both so much!

For the past eleven months Peter has taken me on a weekly three hour jaunt; one hour travelling, two hours walking. We have seen many parts of the beautiful Cheshire and Derbyshire countryside. I have never felt disappointed.

My husband spent many happy hours walking with Peter and Alison and their care, professionalism and understanding were excellent. What a great service offering fresh air and excersise combined with care and companionship.
Thanks to you both.

My husband has been going walking with Peter for about 2 years. He looks forward to going and I know that he’s safe and I can relax and have time to myself. Thank you to both Peter and Alison.

My Dad who has Alzheimer’s disease, has been on many an enjoyable walk with Peter.  Not only did my Dad benefit from being in the fresh air doing what he most enjoys – walking in the countryside – but I was able to get some respite from 24/7 caring for him.  Telling him that he was going for a walk with Peter that afternoon was sometimes the only way I could get my Dad to agree to get dressed in the morning.
Alison and Peter regularly provided night sleep-ins so I was able to get a couple of night’s sleep which I looked forward to each week and which enabled me to ‘recharge my batteries’.  For a few weeks Alison and Peter would also assist me with domestic tasks, changing beds and cleaning the bathroom, which lightened my workload giving me more time to concentrate on my Dad’s care at a difficult time.  Alison’s and Peter’s help and their just being there to talk to got me through some tough situations; being carers themselves they were able to understand and give reassurance when I felt everything was collapsing round me.
I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who would like their loved one to be given the opportunity to get exercise and stimulation from the outdoors, in the knowledge that they are in safe hands.
